Style File: How Deepika Padukone nails voyage chic

Image
Deepika Padukone may have got a bit of flak for some of her questionable red-carpet appearances, but recently, she has more than made up for that by cleaning up well at the airport. Have a look at all of her travel pap shots and she looks impeccably well-coordinated and up-to-the-second chic. From her reflector sunnies to her track pants and monochrome basics — she marries classic uptown with a hint of classic rock and roll and we aren’t complaining. This week, she stopped the traffic in a black boyfriend T-shirt teamed with a pair of matching leather pants and booties at the airport. Basics Never Looked So Appealing!  Designer Arpita Mehta says, “Deepika has managed to put a smile on our faces, showing us how airport styles can be non-fussy, easy, comfortable as well as cool. She’s the perfect example of ‘steez’ i.e. style with ease.” The   Padmaavat   actress has successfully managed to marry comfort with style, which has worked wonderfully for her. ...

Raw Mango designer Sanjay Garg on revival of handloom sarees

Raw Mango founder and fashion designer Sanjay Garg, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his celebrity-favourite brand in 2018, has been instrumental in the revival of a number of Indian textiles such as chanderi, brocade, mashru, chikankari. Handloom speaks to many communities and the human condition. We tend to express this as ‘us working with them’, though I believe breaking this distincti...

Manpriya Singh It’s hard to imagine that the man largely responsible for waving goodbye to the hideous Bollywood outfits of the eighties started his film journey with Swarg; a film in which he conceptualised costumes for a song starring Juhi Chawla. But then Rangeela happened and things started adding up, growing exponentially — on screen like his filmography Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara, to the upcoming Dhadak and Fanney Khan, and off screen to the tune of Rs 1 billion turnover that his label has already marked.  While the struggles may have disappeared just like his bridal lehengas once they are off the ramp, the challenges remain.  “If you are an achiever, you have to put in a lot more effort to sustain that status. The expectations sky-rocket and so does the pressure,” shares the designer, who has just finished with his starry obligations with students of INIFD, for which he was briefly in Chandigarh to launch an online course.     One for the bride...
